It is less than an hour’s drive north of Atlanta to get to Woodstock. The Cherokee County town was a few days ago the site of a four-vehicle chain-reaction series of crashes along S.R. 140/Hickory Flat Highway.
A 21-year-old man was killed in the early evening crash that began when a car driven westward by a 44-year-old woman crossed the center line of the highway. Her vehicle slammed head on into the vehicle driven by the young man, who was driving eastbound, police said.
That collision sent the man’s car across the center line as well, where it was hit by another westbound vehicle.
The car driven by the woman who started the series of wrecks then struck another eastbound vehicle. That eastbound vehicle was sent off of the road and down a steep embankment, a law enforcement official said.
Fortunately, no one in that fourth vehicle was injured. And the driver of the third vehicle in the crashes also emerged unharmed.
The female driver that police say started the crashes was taken to a nearby hospital with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries. She had no passengers in her car. Police continue to investigate the crashes.
While we do not yet know what caused the initial crash, we do know that in many similar cases, distractions, drunken driving and speeding often play deciding factors. You can speak to an experienced personal injury attorney at the law offices of Houck | Reynolds, LLC.
